“All Creatures of Our God and King” is a Christian music program and play suitable for early Elementary and Preschool aged children in either a private school or Sunday School setting.
The script, printed music, and high-quality recorded digital accompaniment music is all included in the downloadable .zip file!
It tells the story of the Good Shepherd from the perspective of the sheep using familiar hymns such as “All Creatures of Our God and King,” and “Surely Goodness and Mercy.”
We developed this program in order to put together a cohesive, efficient, flexible Spring Play and music program for our small Lutheran church and school. We feel that the old familiar hymns need to be taught to the younger generations in order to preserve our traditions. If we don’t teach them the hymns, who will?
With the recommended additional poems, this program runs approximately 30 minutes. I have not reprinted these poems due to copyright, but I do recommend purchasing “A Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices.” This is a delightful book of insect poetry for two voices that I enjoyed a lot growing up!
Our play’s focus on the Good Shepherd and God’s Creatures is a great way to integrate the study of insects. Poetry for two voices is more difficult to perform than single-voice poetry and our students really rose to the challenge.
We have fewer than 25 students ages 3 through 2nd Grade and they need a wide range of roles to showcase their skills and talents, including beginning recorder.
